QuakeSim is a project to develop a solid Earth science framework for modeling and understanding earthquake and tectonic processes. The multi-scale nature of earthquakes requires integrating many data types and models to fully simulate and understand the earthquake process. QuakeSim focuses on modeling the interseismic process through various boundary element, finite element, and analytic applications, which run on various platforms including desktop and high end computers. We integrate and deliver data products through our QuakeTables database.

Applications allow scientists to assimilate distributed data sources and complex models into a parallel high-performance earthquake simulation and forecasting system. With UAVSAR becoming operational QuakeSim has an increasing focus on analysis of radar interferograms (InSAR) and integrating them into modeling applications. The goal is to simplify data discovery, access, and usage from the scientific user point of view. QuakeSim also provides capabilities for efficient data mining and pattern recognizers for analyzing data and simulations. QuakeSim establishes the infrastructure and optimal techniques to understand the relationship between the observable space-time patterns of earthquakes and the underlying, nonlinear stress-strain dynamics.
